About LIMA
LIMA is a trusted managed IT service provider to UK organisations across the public and private sectors. With more than 27 years of experience, LIMA offers a broad portfolio, from infrastructure and cloud solutions to cybersecurity, managed services and beyond.
LIMA’s partnership-based working style empowers businesses to achieve their most ambitious goals and deliver long-term value through “insight-led IT”. Insight-led IT is about gaining a deeper understanding of organisations and what makes them tick. By creating more meaningful connections, LIMA moves beyond solving IT challenges towards implementing technology that has a transformative effect on business outcomes.
Why did you decide to look at your environmental impact?
Embedding ESG into tendering isn't optional anymore - it's a decisive factor that demonstrates value beyond cost and meets growing public-sector requirements and LIMA understood it significantly increases the ability to win more contracts.
LIMA’s vision is to stay ahead of the curve by embedding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into its customer focused IT services, product innovation and internal operations. Driven by this commitment, the leadership team embarked on developing a sustainable strategy that not only benefits the planet but also strengthens business resilience, aligning with the values and expectations of stakeholders.
In addition LIMA were aware of the amendments to the climate change Act 2008 which were implemented in 2019, when the UK committed to achieving a target of at least 100% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 referred to as ‘Net Zero’.
WHY PATHWAY TO CARBON ZERO?
LIMA chose Pathway to Carbon Zero as its sustainability partner because they have a proven track record of assisting businesses on their carbon net-zero journey. The company provides hands-on assistance and support in benchmarking achievements using performance monitoring and measuring mechanisms, which was key to supporting LIMA on its sustainability journey.
Pathway to Carbon Zero has knowledge and understanding of the technology industry within their leadership team, this coupled with enthusiasm and energy to jointly develop a clear roadmap of success. One of the key benefits of working with Pathway to Carbon Zero is the partnership and collaboration provided to make significant achievements in carbon reduction across Scope 1 and 2 emissions and the ongoing support to measure and reduce our Scope 3 emissions.
RESULTS AND INSIGHTS
The gap analysis conducted by Pathway to Carbon Zero provided valuable insights into LIMA's current carbon footprint and sustainability goals. The analysis focused on the principle ESG requirements, including stakeholder engagement and leadership, environment, social value, and governance.
LIMA made great strides in delivering environmental impact by reducing their total CO2e Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 19.4% from the baseline year of 2022 to 2023. Activities included implementing a flexible working policy, investing in high-spec energy-efficient servers, installing smart power strips, and aligning to a 100% green energy contract. LIMA has also established a D&I steering committee to drive the DEI strategy and trained three mental health advocates within the business. With the installation of LED lighting across the entire business and the exploration of installation of solar panels, LIMA's commitment to sustainability is evident in their efforts to promote green finance options within company pensions and review their banking from a sustainability perspective. I have no doubt that with the momentum from the LIMA team, they will meet their targets of Carbon Neutrality by 2026 and net Zero by 2040 and carry out Scope 3 measurement and benchmarking by 2026 against relevant categories.
