Net Zero New Grant Scheme
In an exciting development for Flintshire businesses, a groundbreaking grant initiative is now available to help companies in the region achieve their net-zero goals. The Carbon Reduction Feasibility Fund, led by Antur Cymru Enterprise and supported by Pathway to Carbon Zero Ltd and Litegreen Ltd in partnership with Flintshire County Council, aims to accelerate the shift towards more sustainable business practices.
The initiative, which has received £297,294 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, offers local businesses the opportunity to apply for up to £5,000 in funding. This financial support is designed to assist companies in developing comprehensive carbon reduction plans, positioning them as leaders in sustainability.
Eligible businesses can utilise the funding to access specialist advice on how to transition to more eco-friendly operations. Whether it involves upgrading equipment, improving energy efficiency, adopting renewable energy sources, or enhancing building systems, the fund is a critical resource for organisations seeking to lower their carbon footprint while boosting profitability.
Rowan Jones, the Fund Manager, emphasised the wide-reaching benefits of the scheme, stating, "We want to support businesses on their carbon reduction journey, whether they are just starting out or already working towards net zero. The funding will bring in expertise to help create a Carbon Reduction Plan, reviewing areas like recycling, energy management, renewables, and even behavioural change, all of which contribute to more sustainable operations."
Under the scheme, feasibility studies will be 80% funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with businesses expected to match the remaining 20%. The program aligns with the Flintshire Climate Change Strategy 2022-2030, helping businesses reduce their energy consumption and emissions through practical energy efficiency measures and behaviour change initiatives.
In addition to the Carbon Reduction Feasibility Fund, Antur Cymru Enterprise offers an R&D (Research and Development) and Innovation Support Fund for companies looking to advance new ideas, products, or processes. A new initiative aimed at fostering business networks, knowledge transfer, and workshops focused on carbon reduction and innovation is also in the pipeline.
This comprehensive support system ensures that Flintshire businesses are well-equipped to lead the way in sustainability while contributing to a greener and more prosperous future for the region.
